All of these images were created over a two year period at our rented cottage on the Black River in Vankoughnet. The cottage is situated between two waterfalls: High Falls (up river) is a large, wide waterfall. Low Falls (down river) is a smaller waterfall with rapids.
Long exposures reveal lots of hidden detail in the moving water, including some lines that seem to defy common sense. Check the image captions for the shutter speeds. Many were created with the aid of a variable neutral density filter.
Portions of this portfolio were published in the B&W magazine 2010 Portfolio Contest Awards issue (#76) in the Excellence Awards section.
