Moving Water

All of these images were taken over a two year period at our rented cottage on the Black River in Vankoughnet. The cottage is situated between two waterfalls: High Falls (up river) is a large, wide waterfall. Low Falls (down river) is a smaller waterfall with rapids. Of the two, most of the images were made at Low Falls, and some are in between the two.

Long exposures reveal lots of hidden detail in the moving water, including some lines that seem to defy common sense. Check the image captions for the shutter speeds. Many were created with the aid of a variable neutral density filter.
